We Want to Hear From You!

We’re working hard to get the word out about the regional transportation plan, provide opportunities for citizens to comment, and consider changes before the plan is finalized early next year.

The greatest challenge we face is to develop a regional transportation plan that is considered sensible and affordable by the voters. To do that, we need the public’s input. We are holding a series of meetings around the region in September and early October with our partner, Sound Transit, for citizens to tell us what they think. Look for an announcement next week about a meeting scheduled in your community

We want to hear what you think should be our priorities. Please send your comments to: info@rtid.org

Roads and Transit Map
Brings Vision into Focus

RTID and Sound Transit have unveiled a compelling new system map that shows how road and transit investments are being coordinated to form our region’s first integrated transportation proposal.

This map demonstrates how the unified plan will connect existing and proposed road and transit projects to move the most people through our most congested corridors—whether they drive a car or truck or take transit.

The integrated proposal will coordinate construction and phasing of road and transit projects to save time, money and maximize the return on taxpayers’ investments.

Expert Review Panel Reports on Viaduct
and SR 520 Bridge Next Week

Next week WSDOT’s expert review panel is scheduled to release new analysis of the costs and risks of replacing the Alaskan Way Viaduct and SR 520 Bridge.

Their work is a key part of our efforts to understand what it will take to build these extremely complex projects. Community leaders and voters must have this information before making important decisions on a regional ballot measure.

Our goal is to present a regional transportation proposal to the voters in the fall of 2007. To get there, we will be digging into the panel’s work to fully understand their analysis and conclusions, and to take advantage of their expertise. Their report provides valuable information for our efforts.

Quick Background on RTID

RTID was created by the state Legislature and charged with developing a transportation package that improves significant roadways and bridges in Snohomish, King and Pierce counties. We are coordinating with Sound Transit to develop a Roads and Transit package to submit to voters in November 2007.
